Kathryn Hindmarch (BA Hons, MA, PGCE)

I am a specialist primary school music teacher with twenty years' experience of teaching children in the junior age range. I am passionate about sharing my love of music with learners of all ages and I enjoy teaching lessons which are fun, varied and tailored to the individual needs of each pupil. In 2019 I was invited by the BBC to speak about my experiences of teaching primary music at the launch of their 'Trailblazers' set of Ten Pieces and I also directed an ensemble group from Portway Junior School at the event.  I have led Network Meetings and provided training for Music subject leaders in the Derby area and have also written for the publication 'Primary Music Magazine' (click for the link).



I have a PGCE in Primary Education and am an Accredited music teacher with the Derby and Derbyshire Music Partnership. My piano lessons blend a mix of note reading, composition, improvisation, aural skills, technique and performance.  I like to use imaginative and creative teaching methods which engage the learner and ensure maximum progress and enjoyment. Individualised teaching means that I am responsive to each learner's personal learning preferences and I have considerable experience in working with pupils who have additional needs, especially those on the Autistic spectrum.
